Our Statement of Faith
This Statement of Faith is intended simply as a basis of fellowship among us. The truth set forth is held to be essential to an evangelical ministry. No claim is made that it contains all biblical truth, only that it covers our need as to these fundamental doctrines. Therefore, the Statement of Faith of Set Free Christian Church is:
A. We believe the Bible is the inspired , the infallible, and authoritative Word of God, without error in the original texts, the product of holy men of old who spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit and is the perfect rule of faith and practice. [2 Tim. 3:16-17; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21]
B. We believe there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This triune God created all, upholds all and governs all. [Gen 1:26; Deut. 6:4; John 10:30; Matt 28:19; John 14:15-26]
C. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten son; His deity, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, His resurrection and ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and His personal and visible return to earth. [Phil. 2:5 – 11; Heb. 1:1 – 4 & 4:15; 1 Corinthians 15:3 – 4; Acts 1:11 & 2:22 – 24 ; John 1:1 – 4; Matt. 1:4]
D. We believe in the Holy Spirit, who has come to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment and to regenerate, sanctify and empower in ministry all who believe in Christ. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available and working in the lives of believers today. [Matt. 3:11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 2:38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:1-4]
E. We believe all people are by nature separated from God and responsible for their own sin. Salvation is the gift of God to man, separate from works and the Law, and is made operative by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, trusting in Him to save them, that person is immediately born again, all of their sins are forgiven, and that person will spend eternity with the Lord. [Rom 3:10; 3:23, Eph. 2:8-10, John 3:16]
F. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved unto eternal life while the unsaved unto eternal damnation. [1 Thess. 4:16-17]
G. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ and that all believers are members of His body, the Church. [Ephesians 1:22 – 23; I Corinthians: 12:12 & 27]
H. We believe in the supremacy of God’s love expressed through His son Jesus Christ. This same love indwells all believers and is the only true basis of Christian fellowship and service. It is greater than all our differences and should be embraced so as to cultivate unity in the church.
